Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We are so thankful for our canine companions! Dogs are absolutely adorable, not to mention loving, loyal, and playful. They also serve as living reminders that sometimes the best things in life really are the little things. It doesn’t take much to please Fido. Here, a vet lists some budget-friendly ways to get your pooch’s tail wagging!
Playtime
Playing is not only fun time for Fido, but it also provides him with beneficial mental stimulation and great exercise. Each day, try to set aside at least a few minutes of doggy playtime. This will keep your furry pal both happy and healthy! Training
Many of our canine buddies actually like learning new things. Every time Fido learns a new trick or command, his confidence gets a boost. Plus, dogs really strive to please their humans. It’s hard not to see how adorably happy Fido gets when he earns a “Good boy!” from you.
Walks
Man’s Best Friend gets so much more than just potty breaks on those daily walks. Dogs pick up a lot of information from scents. Your pup can satisfy his natural curiosity by sniffing about his surroundings and it offers him mental stimulation, too. Whether you have a yard for your furry buddy to patrol and chase squirrels in or not, take time to walk your pet at least once a day. Try not to think of taking Fido out as a chore. The fresh air and exercise will be good for you, too!
Comfy Beds
A good comfy bed is a small luxury that can make a big difference. Your little buddy will spend as much as half of his time sleeping, so having a good bed to sleep in is important. We usually recommend orthopedic beds for larger dogs.
New Toys
Fido is always super cute when a new plaything enters his world. You don’t have to break the bank buying dog toys, though. A homemade rope pull can be manufactured by cutting an old towel or tee-shirt into strips and braiding them together. Instant tail wags!
Affection
More than anything else, the best way to get Fido’s tail going is really just to pay attention to him. Take time to nurture that special bond we form with our canine pals!
